Keep the Lights Burning Abbie

The book is about Abbie and her sister and her mother. They live in a lighthouse. Abbie's mother is sick. She stays in her bed through the whole book. Abbie's papa has to sail away for medicine and food and more oil. The medicine is for her mother to get better and the food is for everyone to enjoy. The oil is for the lights in the lighthouse. Abbie's job is to keep the lights burning in the lighthouse. At the end of the book the father came home.

I liked the story beause it was a really nice story and their dad came home at the end. It is nice because it shows the family helping each other. I also like the pictures because they are water colors. They bring out the color and they are really exciting.

My favorite part was when the dad came home and they were all happy. It is my favorite part because the mother feels better because she got her medicine. The family also got food and more oil for the lights.

My favorite character was Abbie because she kept the lights burning for her dad. She was very responsible and nice. She helped her mother and her sisters get along without their dad. She really kept the family together while the dad was gone.

I think that second and third graders would like the book because I really liked it. It shows how a family can work together.
