In the Mystery of the Monster Movie Cam Jansen and her friend Eric try to find a movie reel that has been stolen from the theater while they are watching it. They suspect some of the people who come to watch the movie like Mr. Bender who is always complaining. Cam and Eric investigate further. By the end of the book they crack the case.
I think this book is good because it keeps you guessing until the very end. When Cam and Eric find the culprit it is a surprise because the motive for the crime isn't greed. The thief steals the movie to keep from being embarassed. My favorite thing about all Cam Jansen stories is that Cam has a photographic memory. It's like a slide show in her head. This helps her remember the clues.
I recommend this book to children in grades two to four. First graders should have the book read aloud to them because it would be too hard for most of them to understand if they read it alone. If you like reading mysteries, you'll love the Cam Jansen books, especially The Mystery of the Monster Movie!
