Farmer Boy

I read the book Farmer Boy. It is one of the books in the Little House series by Laura Ingalls Wilder. It is about a little boy name Almanzo. He wants to be able to do what his older brother and dad are able to do. He wants to drive the horses, Beauty and Bess, and many other things on the farm.

The main character in this story is Almanzo. The problem takes place in the cornfield. Almanzo, his brother, two sisters, mom and dad had to put water on all the corn before the sun was up and they lost one fourth of the corn because the sun was up before they got to it! Almanzo's dad said he was not supposed to go in the pen with the colts, but one day his dad and mom were gone and he went in the colt's pen and his older brother, Royal caught him in the pen with the colts and scolded him.

My favorite part in this story is when Almanzo hooks up the calves Bright and Star to his sled. The calves start running down the hill and then Almanzo flips off and the calves are still running down the hill. They finally stop when they get to the road. I thought that part was really funny.

My favorite character in this book is Almanzo. He's funny and very smart and he enjoys doing things with his animals just like me.

The illustrations in this book are very detailed and nice to look at. I really like them. I especially like the picture that shows Almanzo's big pumpkin.

I liked the book Farmer Boy because it's very interesting and funny. I recommend this book to second graders through adults! People who like the Laura Ingalls Wilder series will love this book.
