Have you ever wondered what it would be like to live without parents? Well, Dallas and Florida had to. Dallas and Florida did not enjoy living with Mr. and Mrs. Trepid, the owners of Boxen Creek Home. They were kept in a corner and got so many lectures just for being kids. They were then sent off to live with people who were not kid-friendly. Find out what they do to survive this miserable life.
We love this book because it is humorous, descriptive and it makes you never want to stop reading. Our favorite part was when Dallas and Florida tricked Mr. Trepid by putting tacks, brownies and poison ivy under rocks. Mr. Trepid came along to get underground funds but all he found was poison ivy, brownies and tacks. Our favorite character was Florida because she was extremely funny and didn't go along with anything Dallas had to say. In the beginning of the book Florida, Dallas' sister, was very pessimistic. Throughout the book, Dallas, Florida's brother, teaches her to be more caring and less stressed. By the end of the book, Florida is optimistic.
We recommend this book to fifth and sixth graders who like books with humorous characters.
