The Magician's Nephew

Two kids named Digory and Polly have fun exploring other people's homes by a secret tunnel in between the attics. One day they were exploring the houses when they stumbled into the wrong door. Here they meet an evil magician and their troubles begin. After they touch magic rings, they are transported into a wood in between worlds. Every time they jump into a puddle, they are hurled into a different world. Digory and Polly decide to do a little exploring so they jump into one of the pools. When they are hurled into a different world they meet an evil witch named Jadis. They try to escape from her but accidentally pull her back to earth. Here she tries to take over earth so the children try to return her to her own world. In the children's attempt to return the witch to her own world they are transported into a new world called Narnia. Here they are sent on a mission by the king to fetch a tree that will protect Narnia from the witch and the fruit that grows from it will heal Digory?s sick mom who is home in bed. Will the children succeed on their quest? Will the witch conquer Narnia? Will Digory's mother be healed? So many questions and reading the book will uncover all the answers.

I thought that this was a really good book, because I love fantasy. This book had the talking animals, it had dwarfs, gods, and talking trees, it had a whole lot of magic. It also had one of the best villains out of all the books I've ever read.

My favorite part of the book was when they first got into the wood inbetween the worlds. This was my favorite part because I loved that they had access to over two hundred worlds, and all they had to do was jump into a puddle.

The character that I found really interesting was the evil queen Jadis. I found her really interesting because out of all the books I've ever read I've never heard of someone that cruel and self centered, or someone as greedy and desperate for power as she was.

This book is the first book in a series called The Chronicles of Narnia. There are six other books in this series they are, The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe, The Horse and His Boy, Prince Caspian, The Voyage of the Dawn Treader, The Silver Chair, and, The Last Battle. They are all similar, because they all include very similar characters.

If you're a fantasy lover then you definitely need to read this book because of all the magic and crazy supernatural things that go on in this book. I think it would be good for everyone (except very young children. I recommend that anyone 10 or older should read this book.
