Junie B. Jones and the Mushy Gushy Valentine

The story begins with Junie B. Jones teacher annnouncing a class Valentines Party. All the children are very excited, because they will be getting cards. Junie B. said,"we could have chocolate kisses and reece cups and all kinds of things to eat". Soon all the children are shouting out party ideas. They decide to make Valentine boxes and cut out hearts to decorate. Junie B. and Jim were racing to get theres done first. Junie B. got in trouble for making a bad heart, it looked like scribble scraps. Lucille and Grace got into a fight and started shouting you got more hearts than me. Finally the boxes are ready. Junie B. counts her hearts and thinks someone didn't give her one, and she is mad. Her teacher finds the missing Valentine card, and it is from her secret admirer. Junie B. looks around the room and tries to figure out who her secret admirer is. She didn't figure it out yet. At recess Junie B. told Grace to wait so she could get her Valentine card. You'll never guess who it is! You'll have to read the story to find out!

I like this story because Junie B. talks funny and makes up words. I like the characters to because they could remind you of real people and a real Valentine party. It seems that problems and trouble follow Junie B. at least that's what I found out in the books I've read so far.

I recommend that first and second graders read this book because it is funny and easy to read. It would also be a good book to read at a class Valentines party.
