Do you like books with adventure, magic, and careless parents? If you answered yes to this question then Matilda is the book for you. Matilda is a girl with extraordinary brain power. Before she starts school, she is left all alone in the big empty house. Meanwhile, her father goes to his horrid used car shop, and her mother goes to play bingo. When she finally starts school her teacher notices her intelligence right away. So Miss Honey, the teacher, tries to help her learn more difficult things. Then Matilda meets Miss Trunchbull. The cruel, kid-hating principal of Crunchem Hall. Eventually, because of all her brain power, Matilda develops an ability to move things without touching them. Matilda pulls many tricks on Miss Trunchbull and her parents. To find what they are you'll have to read the book. She also makes many friends. In the end, Matilda does Miss Honey a favor, and Miss Honey definitely repays her.
I liked this book because it reminded me of my second grade teacher,who is alot like Miss Honey. I also liked it because this book is full of fun and tricks. I enjoyed the pictures in this book alot because the illustrations are just like sketches and the illustrator used black pen and water colors to make the awesome pictures. My favorite part of the book was where Matilda makes the chalk move and then writes the frightening message on the chalk board in front of Miss Trunchbull. I thought that part of the story was very entertaining.
I recommend this book to lots of people because it kept me laughing the whole time and it had a fun word choice. The audience for this book I think would be second grade and up, because there are hard words, but the book is wonderful!
