In this book the characters are John, Mom, Dad, Dr. Cranium, and Susan. John loves all sorts of candy but especially chocolate. One day while he was walking down the street he found a coin with his initials JM on it. John ran down the street to the candy store and gave the store keeper the coin. John looked around for the biggest box of chocolate and bought it. At home John hid it under his bed and took the longest and biggest piece out of the box. Then ran downstairs for lunch. He put it in his mouth and swallowed it. "Not turkey burger again," said John. "Just eat," says Mom. John carefully put a piece of burger into his mouth and it tasted like chocolate.
I really liked this book because I can imagine what it would be like if everything I ate tasted like chocolate. I liked Dr. Cranium because he was able to help John. He gave John some medicine that stopped everything tasting like chocolate. This book made me feel happy when I was reading it because parts of the story made me laugh. There were a few illustrations in the book that helped me understand the book better. The illustrations were detailed but were not in color. My favorite part of the book was when John went to Dr. Cranium's office for help. Dr. Cranium was able to help John so he wouldn't have to taste chocolate every time he ate something.
I recommend this book because it is funny. I think kids who are about 8-10 years old would like this book. Many kids like chocolate and candy so they would be able to relate to this story. I would recommend this book as a fun one to read during the summer.
