The Bad Beginning

What would you do if your parents died in a fire? Read what happened to Violet, Klas, and Sunny when their parents died in a fire in The Bad Beginning: A Series of Unfortunate Events written by Lemony Snicket.

To begin with, this story was about three kids who not only lose their parents, but also their home in a fire. Because of that, they have to go to a relative’s house. The problem is that this relative, Count Olaf, wants to steal their fortune that was left to them by their parents! He comes up with a plot to marry Violet in a play and it actually would be a real wedding. This would then give him their fortune because of the marriage. When the kids figure this out with the help of a nice neighbor that lets them use his library to find out about the laws of marriage, they try to stop him. The problem is that Olaf is very mean and threatens to kill Sunny if they don’t do what he wants them to do. They have to figure out how to save their fortune and get away from Olaf!

In addition, my favorite part of the book was when they were going to be part of a play. It is my favorite part because it will be exciting that they will be in front of 100 people or more! Also it will be funny because they did not practice. So that might mean they will mess up. The most exciting part of the book is that in the play count Olaf will try to steal the fortune. This was exciting because I didn’t know if his plan was going to work or not. Klas reminds me of my older brother. This is because he always reads and he has glasses, just like my brother.

In conclusion, this book is perfect for kids 8-12. It is also a good book if you like adventures and villains. Go check it out today!
