Have you ever heard of the book, “The Pet War”? The author of the book The Pet War is Allan Woodrow. The Pet War is the best book I have ever read!
To begin with, The Pet War was mainly about two kids that were brother (Otto) and sister (Lexie) that needed $500 to get a pet. Otto wanted a dog and Lexie wanted a cat. Otto and Lexie didn’t get along very well. Otto started falling behind in school and soccer because he was trying to earn enough money by the end of the month to get a dog. Otto tried finding a good job to make money, until finally he found the right job. I think the moral of this story is that even when you lose you can win, also when you don’t get what you want you can be content.
In addition, I think The Pet War was intriguing. While reading the book, it really made me want to read more. My favorite part was when Otto tried to make cookies and the smoke alarm went off, because for the rest of the book Lexie brought that up and laughed about it. Another part that I enjoyed was when Otto talked about how he knocked over the dog food can pyramid at Schnood’s grocery store. This was probably one of the funniest parts of the story. Otto was a character that really changed in this book. At the beginning of the book he was irresponsible, and near the end he was responsible.
In conclusion, I recommend the book The Pet War for ages 7-11. I recommend this because it is really exciting. If you like humorous books you should definitely read this book!
