I Survived the Destruction of Pompeii by Lauran Tarshis is about a boy named Marcus who has to rescue his father, and run from the destruction of Pompeii. To start with, Marcus is at a parade and suddenly sees his father who he has not seen in a long time. Next, Marcus has to save his father from fighting ‘’Cyclops’’ a one eyed warrior. Finally , Marcus and his father have to run away from Mount Vesuvius. You’ll have to read this book to find out how they escape!
In my opinion, the book I Survived the Destruction of Pompeii by Lauran Tarshis, is the best book ever read. To start with this book is adventurous , because Marcus and his father go up an active volcano, Mount Vesuvius. Another reason is this book is about family, because Marcus has to rescue his father. Most importantly, Marcus and his father run away from the slave hunters. All in all, this is a book you won’t want to miss.
I think people who are in 3rd-5th grade should read this book. Do you like historical fiction? This would be a great book for you, since Pompeii really was destroyed. I would give this book 2 thumbs up, because this book was historical and adventurous. I would recommend this book to people who have an interest in the past. If you pick this book up you won’t want to put it down.
