A 10 year old girl named Opal went to the grocery store for a box of macaroni and cheese, some white rice, and two tomaoes and came back with a dog. She named the dog Winn - Dixie after the grocery store. Opal and Winn - Dixie go on adventures together, and Winn - Dixie leads her to many friends. Read this book to meet these friends too.
I like the book Because of Winn - Dixie because it's about a dog that changes a girl's life. I had a connection with Opal and Winn - Dixe both because I found a dog in my grandma's bushes, and I kept the puppy as my own, and I named her Sammie. I am like Miss Franny Block too because I like to read a lot like she does, and I like to tell stories. My favorite part is when Winn - Dixie took Gloria's peanut butter sandwich.
I would recommend this book to anyone who likes dogs. If you do not like dogs this is not the book for you.
