This story is about a boy named Borden Watson. Borden Watson goes out to the dark forest to look for spotted owls to shoot. He looked for spotted owls because he thought his dad Leon lost his job all because of the spotted owls. The spotted owls stay on the trees. Leon's job is to cut down trees, but the spotted owls stay, so Leon lost his job. Everytime Leon and Borden see a spotted owl the gun or rifle goes 'BANG' and the owls are dead. One day when Borden was looking for spotted owls he saw an unspotted owl. It didn't know how to fly. Borden thought that it was a Barn Owl, so he named the little owlet Bardy. When Borden went home and showed Leon the little owlet, Leon just said,"Shoot Him".
Will Leon start to like Bardy? Read the book to find out. This book was exciting and well written. I really enjoyed this book. My favorite part of it is when Bardy learns how to fly. I would recommend this book to people who like owls.
