Number the Stars

This book is about two girls and their families that are living in the time of the Holocaust. One of the girl?s name is Anne Marie and the other is Ellen. Anne Marie has blond hair and blue eyes. She also has a little sister, and a big sister that died.

Well the setting of the story is in Denmark in the time when an evil man named Hitler tried to take over the world and kill all Jewish people. That is when Anne Marie and her family helped Ellen and her mother escape Hitler?s soldiers because they were Jews.

I liked the story because I liked how Anne Marie and her family tried to help Ellen?s family escape the Germans. I also liked the way they stuck up for each other and risked their life for their friends. My favorite part in the story is when the soldiers tried to break into Anne Marie?s house, but what the soldiers didn?t know was that Ellen was hiding in Anne Marie?s closet. This story reminds me of something that happened in Cuba, that Fidel Castro didn?t let people from Cuba leave the country. I felt sad that they didn?t have any freedom since forty years ago.

I recommend this book to people that are grateful that they have friends, because your friends will help you when you need them. I think people shouldn?t be treated wrongly because of the color of your skin or religion. We are all people and we should be treated equally.
